Report on Laguna niguel tap water notes a number of cancer causing contaminants

It can be difficult to educate the public as to the dangers in our tap water.  A recent article once again states what is starting to sound like a broken record.

“A report released Wednesday, though, found more than 270 harmful contaminants in local drinking water across the nation, including in Orange County.  The substances are linked to cancer, damage to the brain and nervous system, hormonal disruption, problems in pregnancy and other serious health conditions.”  The article is here:  https://tinyurl.com/y6g3oe3j

In the article, it is discussed that a lot of the legal limits are outdated.  What was once thought to be okay levels of contaminants and chemicals are now known to be unsafe.  This is scary stuff if you give it some thought.

The nonprofit Environmental Working Group did testing of the Moulton Niguel water district and found 8 dangerous contaminants.  That is the Laguna Niguel and surrounding cities’ water district.  You have to read the article and read down that list.  It is shocking.  https://tinyurl.com/y6g3oe3j

We thought this quote from the Environmental Working Group is especially telling and rings true for us.  “The regulatory system meant to ensure the safety of America’s drinking water is broken. The inexcusable failure of the federal government’s responsibility to protect public health means there are no legal limits for more than 160 unregulated contaminants in U.S. tap water.”

Our whole business is based on filtering out chemicals and contaminants like the ones mentioned in the article.  Check our main website for information https://pureelementswater.com as well as our informational hub site https://pureelementswater.net

Are you at risk of getting cancer from your tap water?

It is hard to know what to think when it comes to tap water. Our government says it is mostly good. They say that the contaminants they test for are within the legal limits. But what does that mean? How many contaminants do they not test for? Just because tested contaminants are within legal limits does that mean it is healthy to drink? Do you feel good about drinking the water or want to take the chance in case the government is wrong?

Many independent groups do studies that say water quality is not good and not to be trusted. A recent study by an environmental advocacy group called Environmental Working Group believe that 15,500 cases of cancer in California could be contributed to the chemicals found in the water supply.

“Researchers from the environmental advocacy group Environmental Working Group estimated that the contaminants found in public water systems in California could contribute to about 15,500 cancer cases there over the course of a lifetime. These contaminants include chemicals such as arsenic, hexavalent chromium and radioactive elements such as uranium and radium. The study was published Tuesday in the journal Environmental Health.”

“We need to look at contaminants as a group — not just one at a time. It’s more important to analyze co-occurring contaminants to understand the real world exposure,” said lead author Tasha Stoiber, a senior scientist with EWG. She explained that cancer risks are typically determined at the individual element level.”

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power believe the report is over the top. Marty Adams stated “California water agencies are subject to very strict water quality standards. Anyone living in an urban California city should be absolutely confident in the quality of the tap water,” the utility’s COO Adams said. “Although not the norm for California, it is important to note that there are a handful of small, mostly rural communities that may have challenges with contaminants in the drinking water, and the state is helping to address that.”

So who do you believe? Do you want to take the possible risk of tap water when the problem can be solved easily with a high quality whole house water filter?

In this additional video, famous environmental activist Erin Brockovich discusses why you cannot take the chance of not filtering your water. The Health risks are too great. “We are in a national water crisis, you just don’t know it.” Erin Brockovich.
